On Wednesday 8 March we celebrated International Women’s Day. At Moto we wanted to mark this day by celebrating some of the fantastic women we have in our business and play a vital role in our success over the course of the week.
At Moto we have a great diverse workforce up and down the country in both our Operational roles and Head Office functions; honouring International Women’s Day we have got three great women in our business who have kindly put together a bit about their Moto journey so far and what working at Moto means to them.
So here they are;
Adele Maloney – Deputy General Manager (Wetherby Services)
I am fairly new to Moto and even though my career in Moto is still quite fresh, I am currently in the role of a Deputy General Manager. I joined the company because of the exciting opportunities it brings for career progression. No one day in this business is the same; you have to be strong minded and hard working to drive successful results – exactly how I like to work. Here at Wetherby we strive to be the best in everything that we do and I love working in this dynamic, fast paced environment. I am keen to develop my skills and knowledge further and have a long standing career here at Moto.
Ashleigh Lewis – Commercial Director
When I joined Moto in 2001, in the role of Senior Financial Analyst, I had never considered a career outside of the finance world. I’ve had several different roles within Moto, all of which have allowed me to gain new skills and develop existing ones. Some of the roles I’ve had include Financial Controller, Purchasing Manager, Commercial Manager and I even spent a short time working abroad as Finance Director in Asia for SSP Air, when Moto was owned by Compass.
In my current role I manage all commercial activities for the business and procure all goods and services not for resale. I love the variety my role offers, it means no two days are ever the same and it includes a great mix of financial, legal and compliance plus operational work. My background in finance has definitely been an advantage to all the roles I’ve had outside of finance but the biggest benefit to my career to date has been working for an organisation who looks beyond your current skill set and when they see potential in people they give them an opportunity to learn and develop. Thanks to Moto I’ll be taking on a new challenge in 2018 – I shall assume responsibility for the retail business.
Julie Sturgess – Regional Operations Director Designate (North)
Moto has always fully supported me in reaching my career and personal goals. In my 23 years with Moto I have had three children and continued to be developed and promoted throughout.
My last promotion being in 2016 when I became the first female Regional Operations Director Designate; in our business the only person who prevents you reaching your full potential is yourself. I still love working for Moto. It’s an ever changing and challenging environment but it’s also a company where every person matters and with the right mindset, you really can have it all.
These are just a few of the fantastic women we have driving Moto forward. They have each developed fantastic careers within our business and we are proud to have them apart of the Moto family.
