Moto & National Highways: Partnering for Safer Roads

Safety is National Highway’s top priority. That’s why we’re proud to partner with National Highways, as part of their Roadside Partners Programme to help drivers stay safe and keep our roads moving.

England’s motorways and major A-roads are some of the safest in the world, but National Highways’ ambition remains that no-one should be harmed while travelling or working on roads.

Working Together

Road safety is a shared responsibility – it is important we all recognise the part we can play as it cannot be achieved in isolation.

The internationally recognised Safe System considers how:

✅ Roads

✅ Vehicles

✅ People

✅ Speeds

✅ Post-collision care

come together in the way we manage and improve safety.

National Highways as a highway authority is responsible for the infrastructure and road elements but recognises that helping drivers make safe choices every day on the roads plays a part.

By raising awareness and influencing driver behaviour we can work together to make roads safer for everyone.

T.R.I.P: Plan Ahead for a Safer Journey

Long journeys can be unpredictable, but planning ahead can prevent breakdowns and reduce risks. The T.R.I.P. campaign encourages drivers to check four key things before setting off:

✅ T – Top up fuel, oil, and screen wash

✅ R – Rest before your journey and plan breaks

✅ I – Inspect tyres and lights

✅ P – Prepare for the road and weather conditions

By making these checks a habit, drivers can help reduce serious collisions on our roads.

Know the HGV Zones: Stay Out of Limited Vision Zones

HGVs have four areas of limited vison, meaning drivers can’t always see vehicles around them. This campaign raises awareness of these limited vision zones and how to pass HGVs safely.

Key Safety Tips:

✅ Stay visible – if you can’t see the HGV’s mirrors, the driver can’t see you

✅ Overtake with care – don’t linger beside an HGV

✅ Keep your distance – tailgating means you can’t see the road ahead

Understanding HGV limited vision zones makes roads safer for all drivers, passengers, and vulnerable road users.

BikerTek: Protecting Motorcyclists on Our Roads

Motorcyclists make up just 1% of road traffic but account for 19% of serious injuries and fatalities. The BikerTek campaign highlights the risks riders face and encourages safer riding habits.

Using an attention-grabbing custom-built motorcycle, this campaign delivers a simple but powerful message:

“Bikes repair easier than bikers.”

By engaging riders in peer-to-peer safety conversations, BikerTek promotes safer motorcycling and helps reduce accidents.

Working Together for Safer Roads

By supporting these National Highways campaigns, Moto is helping to create a safer driving environment for all road users. Whether you’re a driver, passenger, or motorcyclist, small changes in behaviour can make a big difference.

Next time you stop at a Moto service station, take a moment to check your vehicle, rest up, and stay informed about road safety. Together, we can make roads safer for everyone.
