Moto in the Community donates £100,000 to the Woodland Trust’s projects

Moto in the Community (MITC) formed a new partnership last week when a cheque for £100,000 was presented to the Woodland Trust.

The donation comes directly from Moto Hospitality’s income from carrier bag sales during 2016.

The Woodland Trust, is the UK’s largest woodland conservation charity, protects and campaigns on behalf of the UK’s woods, restores ancient woodland and plants more trees for the benefit of people and wildlife.

The Trust will be using the funds for its work and it will include creating three Centenary Groves at Langley Vale in Surrey, Dreghorn Woods near Glasgow and Ffos Las, in South Wales. Work has already started on the groves.

On receiving the cheque, Karl Mitchell, Director of Fundraising at the Woodland Trust, said: “We are delighted that MITC has chosen to support the Woodland Trust through carrier bag donations. The cheque for £100,000 is just fantastic and will allow us to plant thousands of trees on our First World War Centenary Woods sites. This money will create a living legacy for the heroes who lived and served in the war, as well as bringing a massive boost for nature. A big thanks to MITC.”

The Woodland Trust’s First World War Centenary Woods project, will see millions of trees planted across the UK and four flagship woods created – in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland – to commemorate the centenary of the First World War.
