Environmental excellence: supporting the Woodland Trust and the Wildfowl and Wetland Trust

Moto in the Community (MITC) was delighted to be able to present our two environmental charity partners, the Woodland Trust and the Wildfowl and Wetland Trust with their annual donations recently, totalling £75,000!

The Woodland Trust received £50,000 as they celebrated their 50^th anniversary year.  They will use the funds towards their Emergency Tree Fund programme, which sees the Trust working shoulder to shoulder with communities across the UK to enable more trees to be planted on public land. 

Karl Mitchell, Director of Fundraising at the Woodland Trust says, “We’re delighted to have Moto in the Community as one of our long-standing supporters.  Together, I believe we are making a positive and sustainable impact on the UK’s natural environment for the benefit of both people and nature.”

The Wildfowl and Wetland Trust (WWT) were one of the selected charities for The Times and Sunday Times Christmas Appeal 2021 and MITC was able to put forward their £25,000 donation as match funding for that campaign. 

The donation will be split between two projects.  £12,500 will be used to support Blue Prescribing sessions – where a trained guide facilitates sessions at WWT reserves as an alternative treatment for poor mental health.  £12,500 will also mean that 1,250 children can access Generation Wild – a storytelling-based learning programme that connects children from lower-income families with nature through their schools, whilst also giving their families a voucher to visit at a later date.

Louise Hughes, MITC Chair, was able to catch up with both charities when she presented their cheques.  She says, “It has been a privilege to meet up with the Woodland Trust and Wildfowl and Wetland Trust to talk about the positive impact they are making on our natural environment and to understand how MITC’s donations are supporting that.  Working with charities such as these means that we can really target our giving and ensure that we Give Back in the best possible way to the environment and local communities.”
