Children from Moto Reading’s adopted school and members of staff from the Reading site rolled up their sleeves earlier to plant over 100 trees at the Eastbound services.

Working together, the nine pupils from Battle Primary Academy and seven staff planted the mixture of oak, field maple, silver birch and hazel trees. The trees will grow into valuable components of the local environment, helping to absorb pollution and provide homes for wildlife.

The planting is the latest joint initiative between the two organisations. Last year MITC donated more than £100,000 through income from carrier bag sales in support of The Woodland Trust’s First World War Centenary Woods commemoration project, which will see millions of trees planted across the UK to commemorate the Centenary of the First World War.
