Punctures, crashes, torrential rain and gale-force headwinds were just a few of the extra challenges thrown at Moto’s team of cyclists who undertook the Big Battlefield Bike Ride last week (September 10th – 16th).
Riding alongside over 200 fellow fundraisers and members of the wounded, injured and sick military community, Moto’s riders cycled 350 miles through France, Belgium and into the Netherlands taking in key military sites and thought provoking history along the way.
So far the team have raised an astonishing £16,500 for Moto’s national charity partner Help for Heroes.
Cyclists Brian Larkin (Chairman of MITC and Regional Director North), Ashleigh Lewis (Commercial Director and MITC Trustee), Brian Lotts (Chief Operations Officer and MITC Trustee), Julie Sturgess (MITC Trustee and RDD) and David Bold (General Manager Birch) travelled from Tournai to Arnhem via Brussels, Eindhoven and Nijmegen.
Staff at Moto’s sites across the country joined in the fundraising effort by cycling stationary bikes on site and taking collections from customers for the duration of the ride.
Back on home soil, Brian Larkin said:
“Taking part in the Big Battlefield Bike Ride has been a fantastic experience for the whole team. The historical sites that we passed on our journey provided great motivation for us when we really needed it. I’d like to thank everyone who donated and helped us reach our fundraising target.”
