Moto in the Community Trust (MITC) was launched 10 years ago with the aim of making a difference in the communities around Moto Hospitality’s national network of service areas. The initial aim was to raise £3m, a target that was motored past in December 2015 and has now been boosted to £5m.
More than £1m has been raised for Help for Heroes − which was adopted as the Trust’s national charity partner in 2012 − including £400,000 which was raised in 2015 alone. A cheque for that amount, £100,000 ahead of the year’s target, has just been handed over to Help for Heroes and Trustees have decided to raise the bar again and go for a new target of £2m for the charity, which provides long-term help for injured armed services veterans.
MICT also supports 52 schools and 45 local community organisations across the UK.
Brian Larkin, Chair of the MICT Trustees, said: “We have raised a fantastic amount of money but none of it would be possible without the support of our customers and staff, who give unflinchingly of their time and money to make sure we achieve our goals. We thank each and every one of them and we’re confident that with their continued support we will hit our new targets.”
