Top tips for keeping kids entertained in the car

So, you have your journey mapped out, your route is planned, and all you need to do now is find a way to keep your children entertained throughout the trip. So, here are some entertainment solutions that could prove invaluable:

Watching movies and cartoons

There are many ways in which kids can watch movies and cartoons while on the road. This includes on their smartphones, on tablets, on a laptop, or even on a portable DVD player. You can keep the kids amused for hours on end with a good selection of movies and cartoons. Remember to download them before you set off to save your 4G – and if you forget, don’t worry, all Moto sites offer free wifi, so make the most of your pit stop by racking up the next box set or movie!

Playing online games

Digital technology means kids can play a host of great online games these days. This is something else that will keep them amused and engrossed for long periods, so you can focus on driving. Equip them with a smartphone or tablet and download some suitable games before your trip so they are ready to start enjoying some gaming entertainment.

Enjoying sing-songs

If you want to enjoy some entertainment that is a little more traditional and involves the whole family, some Carpool Karaoke could be just the thing. You can all get involved in a fun-packed sing song and even let the kids choose the songs so you get to sing along to some of their favourite tunes.

Reading books and magazines

Another great way to keep your kids engrossed and busy is by providing them with reading material. You can choose books and magazines depending on the ages of your children, and you could even download some eBooks if you don’t have the space available to take along hardbacks and paperbacks.

Activity planning for holidays

Kids love planning, and if you are heading off on a holiday you can use this to your advantage. In order to keep them entertained, provide them with a guide book of where you are going. You can then get each of them to spend time researching and writing down the top places they want to visit in that destination once you get there.

Playing travel games

If you prefer not to have your kids glued to smart devices throughout the journey, you can turn to traditional travel games. There are many different classics available such as travel Scrabble, Connect 4, and many others. These are ideal if you have several kids travelling in the back, as they can all get involved with the same game.

Listening to audio books

If you have younger kids, you may want to consider audiobooks of magical stories, which they can listen to on various devices and audio players. This is a great way to not only keep them entertained but also lull them off to sleep.

Enjoying favourite tunes

While your older kids may not be interested in a singalong, they will probably be interested in listening to their own music. So, get them to download some of their favourite songs before the journey and then get them some good earphones so they can listen to their playlists without you being subjected to their musical tastes!

Taking photos along the way

Another great way to keep your kids entertained is by getting them to take photos along the way while you are travelling. You may want to go retro with a disposable cameras with which to do this or they can use digital or smartphone cameras. This is an excellent way of creating memories as well as keeping the kids happy.

Colouring

For those travelling with younger kids, a colouring-in book provides a simple and effective solution to entertainment. Kids love being creative and enabling them to do this while you travel is certain to keep them quiet and happy for a while.

Enjoy a fun, stress-free journey

By coming up with ways to keep your children entertained in the car, you can look forward to a far more enjoyable and stress-free journey. You kids can have some fun by getting involved in their favourite activities while you can focus on the road and getting to your chosen destination.
