Help for Heroes received their annual donation from MITC recently, when they were presented with a cheque last month (January 30th).
The donation of £400,000 brings the total funds raised to £2.3million since Help for Heroes became MITC’s national charity partner in 2012, well over the £2million the trust originally pledged to raise. This latest funding has enabled the charity to develop adaptive gardens for horticultural therapy in the south of the country and provide a specialist family room at their recovery centre in Catterick. The charity has also employed three specialist key workers to provide welfare support for wounded Veterans and their families, improving their lives and futures.
On presenting the cheque Brian Larkin said:
“I’m thrilled to make another donation to Help for Heroes and to celebrate reaching this fantastic target. This £400,000 has been raised through a variety of fundraisers on and off site and has been achieved with the help of our staff, customers and suppliers and we thank everyone for their continued support.”
Melanie Waters, CEO of Help for Heroes said:
“Moto in the Community Trust is an incredibly important partner of Help for Heroes. To say that you have raised a phenomenal amount is an understatement – you have fundraised over £2million in total, making a huge difference to our Veterans and their families. We are thrilled that Moto in the Community Trust has committed to fundraise a further £1million, allowing us to continue providing lifetime support to our wounded Veterans and their families. Thank you and keep up the good work!”
