Moto Lancaster’s burgeoning relationship with a local hospice has resulted in nearly £7000 being raised in just over 12 months.
St John’s hospice in Lancaster became one of the site’s community partners in 2016. Since then a range of fundraising initiatives have taken place in aid of the hospice, which provides free palliative care to patients in North Lancashire, South Lakes and parts of North Yorkshire with life shortening conditions.
Individual grants have funded an IPad to enable patients to better keep in touch with friends and family as well as 8 new coffee tables and wardrobes to help the inpatient ward feel more like a home from home.
Moto in the Community recently contributed to the hospice’s Moonlight Walk event, where supporters walked 14km or 25km dressed as superheroes, by covering the cost of each participant’s Moonlight Walk bag including a t-shirt, sponsor form and collection box. In addition, there have been collections at the Lancaster site and Moto staff have taken part in some of the hospice’s own events including the Morecambe Colour Dash and Moonlight Walk.
Angela and Tricia from Moto Lancaster even took to the skies with 30 other brave volunteers as part of the hospice’s first group sky dive! The two daredevils contributed over £1600 to a grand total of £15,000 raised by the group.
